ummm.... not tryna discourage you OP.

But a lot of western horror stories are really shitty.
Most of them are fictional and you can tell right off the bat.
Sure, fictional stories aren't boner killer if they are well written.
Sadly such stories are far and few in between,
and among the stories I have read, only very few stand out to be truly scary.
You won't find them on places like tumblr or this shitty Reddit r/nosleep.

If you wanna find some good stories, you can try hitting on the creepypasta wiki.
A lot of them are shit, but occasionally you will find some jewels hidden underneath those piles of crap.
Or you may wanna try out some small communities out there, some are pretty creative in writing stories.

My personal favorite is a pasta called '"Penpal". Don't know if someone has posted this on here before, but as far as I recall, this one gave me a real goosebump. The only complain I have is that it gets a bit too dramatic near the end of it. But still a good read. If you don't wanna translate it yourself (cuz it's quite long, 6 parts in total), someone on PTT (marvel board) has translated it already (not sure if all 6 parts though), you may wanna take a look.

Another recommendation I have is not fictional (I suppose, who knows?#hehe# ). It's from a book called "Missing 411", and is about unexplained disappearances that happened throughout the US national parks. A lot them are down right weird and creepy, I think you won't get disappointed.

睇到The thing that keeps me up at night, isn’t the content of what I saw.
It’s that there were so many pages left.

Sam跟我坐在花園裡
地上有一塊特大的畫布, Sam在上面亂畫一通

某人在保麗來的空白位置, 寫上了:
Sam

Can't think of any tbh.[sosad]
I usually just hang around here and there looking for stories, plus I'm not a big fan of western horror stuff.
If I wanna shit bricks, I will go read some Japanese stories instead.

I'm a frequent lurker on /x/. But I really can't recommend this to you.
It used to be pretty good, but then a bunch of tripfags and RPfags ruined it all and now it's probably even worse than reddit.

Though sometimes you can still find some creepy threads there.
Say I was just browsing a non-paranormal nope thread, and some of the stories are pretty nice.
Throwing off some to give you a taste.

(1.)
There was this guy who said he moved to a new house, in the middle of nowhere surrounded by bushes.
Every once in a while he would receive weird phone calls of a man saying hello several times and hanged off.
Then one night the guy went home late and caught the phone ringing. This time the guy said several hellos again, but ended with "you're late tonight".
Afterward, he heard several banging sounds from upstairs.

(2.)
Another one is this one guy who had his friend's dad missing.
His mom told him to join the local rescue team (he was a kid only) in the nearby mountain.
Thing is, the mountain is infamous for having satanic cultist performing rituals late at night.
Several murders were reported there and a road was blocked off because of it.
The OP mom was apparently a cunt and ordered him to go straight into the road with his cousin.
Turned out stumbling across a cultist camp ground with 2 cultists chased them off.

(3.)
Also this one which is a suspicious skinwalker encounter.
The OP has a dog, and one night it suddenly barked at the backyard so OP went and checked.
Only to hear from the nearby bushes that,
something spoke softly in his voice, yet a bit distorted, and was repeating a catchphrase OP likes to say to his dog, as if the thing was mimicking OP and tried to lure his dog out.

(This one you probably need to know something about skinwalker to get the chill though.)

There are also some other stories. Some are personal traumas (witnessing a murder, getting raped, pedophilic encounter when OP was a kid etc.) They are all personal experiences being shared. (Of cuz, we don't really know. But the sense of realism is what ticks here right?)
