“Juan Cuadrado will stay at Chelsea,” it’s what his agent, Alessandro Lucci, claimed in the last hours.

The Colombian winger was linked to some Italian club in the past days, especially Inter and Juventus, and his Chelsea exit seemed a matter of time according to some Italian media reports.

But his agent dismissed all the talks and stated: “Juan is fine at Chelsea for now, we’ll see about later. He’s happy, and the club is happy with him, so for now we’re comfortable”.

Cuadrado arrived last January from Fiorentina in a £26m deal ( that included Salah’s loan, we talk about this here) and didn’t impress in his first months at Stamford Bridge, being labeled like a “flop” by some fans and English press.

But Chelsea manager José Mourinho protected him when in the end of the past season declared:

“In the four or five months that he has been with us, he had to make an adaptation that is not easy and he became a [Premier League] champion, won a cup [Capital One Cup], and that will always be in his career.

‘He has suffered, and that is normal – it is one thing to play in Italy and another to play in England – and it is not easy to arrive in January to a team that is winning and playing well, and adapt to a different system: Fiorentina played with five defenders, while we play with four.

‘People haven’t yet seen Cuadrado. I saw him in Italy, at Udinese, when I was at Inter. I saw him play many times and he is a guy I have high hopes for for next season.
