【保護動物安全】

因應社交媒體就東鐵綫太和站路軌附近嘅圍欄，同埋一些愛好動物人士就難以餵飼貓隻嘅意見，我哋希望喺呢度解釋一下。有關圍欄係用作保護動物，避免佢哋進入路軌範圍。東鐵綫嘅圍欄提升措施，係喺2014年經過全面檢討，並採納多個愛護動物組織嘅專業建議之後所實施，而同一時間，東鐵綫亦檢查咗全綫鐵路範圍既圍欄，並將動物有可能入到嚟嘅縫隙封起咗。呢啲措施並唔係要將動物困喺港鐵範圍入面。事實上，為咗確保動物嘅安全，如果見到港鐵範圍入面有動物，我哋會要求愛護動物組織幫手，帶佢哋離開。

[Supporting the Safety of Animals]

In response to interest being shown in social media on the fencing along the tracks near Tai Wo Station and comments by some animal lovers that it is difficult to feed cats in the area, the MTR Corporation would like to clarify the fencing is in place to protect animals from straying into track areas. Fencing along the East Rail Line was enhanced after a thorough review in 2014 which took into account professional advice from several animal welfare organisations. Actions taken at the time also included a comprehensive check of the boundary fencing along the East Rail Line with gaps where animals could intrude subsequently being sealed up. The measures are NOT intended to keep animals inside MTR premises. In fact, the assistance of animal welfare organisations are sought to take away stray animals found within MTR premises to ensure their safety.
