For the wide majority of us, snapping up the Hot Wheels equivalent of our favorite ride is the closest we’ll ever get to actually owning it. However, the famed die cast brand is turning that routine on its head for its 50th anniversary, inviting enthusiasts to submit their own projects to inspire Mattel’s next pocket-sized models.

It’s called the Legends Tour, and Hot Wheels is holding 15 meetups at Walmarts around the United States between now and November to immortalize one real-life custom car in honor of the brand’s milestone. A nominee will be chosen at each event, culminating in a final round at SEMA 2018 in Las Vegas where a winner among the 15 will be decided.
