[唔係突發] 原來 Scottish 都有愚公移山
人地唔會做寓言故事,叫人愚公

He took the high road! How Scottish islander gave up waiting for an access route to his remote village... so picked up his tools and built one himself (and they even named it after him)[/size=5]

•56-year-old Calum Macleod decided to build the road on the remote Isle of Raasay on Scotland's west coast
•The crofter constructed the 1.75 mile-long single track road over a decade with no help from anyone else
•He had wanted to connect the village of Arnish with the rest of the island to stop people leaving the hamlet
•As a mark of gratitude the other islanders named it 'Calum's Road' after him and put up a sign in his honour

56-year-old Calum Macleod decided to build the enormous road using only a set of rudimentary tools and an engineering manual

Pictured in 1982 towards the end of the project, Calum could be seen grafting away - shifting dirt away from the single tracked road

The ageing crofter was in his 70s when the project was finally completed - and it was only granted official status by the local authority in the mid-1980s

As a mark of their thanks, the local authorities on Raasay decided to name the road after him and install a sign with his original wheelbarrow

The enormous 1.75 single-tracked road was built singlehandedly by Calum over the course of a decade in the crofter's spare time

The stunning road winds over the top of some of the island's highest peaks and features views over to Skye in the distance

The road has become a major tourist attraction on the island after being featured in several films and television dramas

Sadly, despite only being completed in the 1980s, the road is already falling into disrepair as it has been left without maintenance
